This Art Deco flapper sautoir rose beaded necklace dates back to the 1920s. These were made in France and often purchased by the soldiers after WW1 as souvenirs. They are made with micro glass beads and completely handmade.
Although beadwork dates back thousands of years ago, European glass beadwork dates back to the 14th century. This necklace is a wonderful example of handmade beaded pieces from the flapper era. The design has a rose at the center of the drop with a multi-coloured beaded fringe.
Excellent vintage condition. There is a hanging thread on the pendant portion of the necklace, though no beads appear to be loose.
Measures 2" wide x 21" long.
