This Art Deco flapper sautoir flower basket beaded necklace dates back to the 1920s. These were made in France and often purchased by the soldiers after WW1 as souvenirs. They are made with micro glass beads and completely handmade.
Although beadwork dates back thousands of years ago, European glass beadwork dates back to the 14th century. This necklace is a wonderful example of handmade beaded pieces from the flapper era. The design has a lovely flower basket at the center of the drop with a beaded fringe.
Good vintage condition. One section of the necklace is missing one strand of beads, but the ends have been secured so no more beads will be lost. Please see the last photo.
Measures 2.25" wide x 23" long.
